INTERVIEW

Please introduce yourself.

My name is Phue mya mya shwe.
I have studied Japanese for 4 years at university in Myanmar.

Why did you decide to study Japanese?

My parents told me that because if I learn Japanese, I can find a job from wide range in my future.

Have you feel any wonders while studying Japanese in university?

Yeah, it was honorifics and manners. I remember... when I studying the business card exchange, at that time my one hand is full, I had to hand it with both hands but I handed it with one hand. Teacher look me and took note of me. Actually I was surprised to the manners. But it was a good experience.

Why did you decide to become a care worker?

When I decide my career after I graduated from university, I really didn't have anything want to do. Some time point, I wanted to help someone other than my family, so I wanted to become a care worker.

Is there any gaps you've felt since you came to Japan?

It was completely different from my imagination. I stayed in Chiba for a few days before coming to Hokkaido. I don't know why... After I arrived in Hokkaido, I remember that I felt like I've been living there for a while.

What are the difficulties and anxieties of living in Japan?

There is a considerable difference between Japanese at school and Japanese outside of school. Also, I look up words I don't understand in a dictionary, but it is difficult because I have to translate from Japanese to English and from English to Burmese.

What is good about school?

The teacher explanation in class is easy to understand. The class is still difficult, but interesting. And the teacher repeats the explanation until I understand what I don't understand, which is very helpful for foreigner.

What do you do on your days off?

I work part-time, and recently I watch videos of making Chinese food on YouTube. But I can't cook.

What was your favorite Japanese food?

I made it in the cooking class, but a savory steamed egg custard was so delicious.

What kind of care worker do you want to be?

The teacher tell me every day, I want to be a care worker who can supports users so that they want to live my own life. And I want to be a care worker who is trusted by people who work at the facility.

Please give a message to foreigners who want to study in Japan.

If you want to study abroad in Japan, you should definitely improve your Japanese proficiency. And although the values ​​of the occupation of care worker differ depending on the country, it is very profound when you study. The educational environment is substantial in Japan, so I hope you will do your best.
