The history and the education of Nishino Gakuen began in 1965, when Nishino Sakura Kindergarten, in the Nishino area of Nishi-Ward, was founded. It was also the starting point for us to seek what the society demanded and what we were expected to contribute.
The 1960s was the period when City of Sapporo started rapidly expanding and was also the time when there was an increasing demand for child care facilities in the Nishino area of Nishi Ward, due to the increasing number of recently born infants. Under such circumstances, in order to respond to the requests for early education by the local residents, we began planning to create a substantial educational environment for children, and founded Nishino Sakura Kindergarten associated with the Montessori Method. Since then, we have been providing visionary kindergarten education.
It was in 1978 when we decided to expand our educational ideals to vocational / technical education based on the management know-how accumulated in the kindergarten education. Under the motto, “Nurturing professionals who are in step with the times”, we founded a culinary school, and then advanced to found a school of medical technologies as well as a school of social welfare, which is the current Nishino Gakuen. “Learning to acquire zest for living” is what we have been working on and this is our immutable principle even when time keeps changing.
